Our Tufts Health Together plan provides high-quality MassHealth coverage for individuals and is free or low cost to low-income families enrolled in the state's Medicaid plan.

Navigators provide enrollees with unbiased information about the health insurance exchange and the health plans that are available. They can help applicants determine whether they qualify for subsidies or Medicaid, and assist with the enrollment process.

Tufts Health RITogether does not require referrals for specialty care. However, PCPs are responsible for referring members to an in-network specialist, when appropriate.

The Cigna PPO Program allows Tufts Health Plan Commercial PPO members who live outside of the service area (Massachusetts and Rhode Island) to get authorized benefits anywhere as long as members see Tufts Health Plan providers in the service area and Cigna providers outside of the service area.

Is Tufts Medicaid or Medicare? ›

With Tufts Health Unify (our Medicare-Medicaid One Care plan for people ages 21 to 64), members get all the benefits of MassHealth and Medicare, plus other benefits, including a care manager, a personalized care plan, a 24/7 NurseLine, and long-term services and supports.

You can find your plan name on your Summary of Benefits Coverage (SBC) and on your ID Card, when you recieve it. If you are unsure of your plan name, ask your employer.

For MassHealth Limited, covered services include the ones listed below. You can get care only for medical emergencies (conditions that could cause serious harm if not treated). There may be some limits. Inpatient hospital emergency services, including labor and delivery.

PPOs Usually Win on Choice and Flexibility

If flexibility and choice are important to you, a PPO plan could be the better choice. Unlike most HMO health plans, you won't likely need to select a primary care physician, and you won't usually need a referral from that physician to see a specialist.

HMO plans typically have lower monthly premiums. You can also expect to pay less out of pocket. PPOs tend to have higher monthly premiums in exchange for the flexibility to use providers both in and out of network without a referral. Out-of-pocket medical costs can also run higher with a PPO plan.
